I could be wrong, but from what I have read, he excelled in maths when he was young. He was supposedly pretty lazy though going through university and appeared unsettled.
I’m not sure that this is true. The biographies I’ve read about Einstein seem to indicate that he was quite bored at school, perhaps because he found it all too easy.

I don’t think so – from what I have read, he excelled in maths and physics at school but did not do as well in other subjects.
