Gee, nowhere particularly wild. I go to lots of observatories in out of the way places, but they are all pretty civilised. I had a pretty wild night in Hollywood once, so I’ll go with that.

Hi Jgiumelli,
Not sure… Southern china is a pretty wild place. But I would have to stick with the Australian outback, you can be a days from anywhere, and that is assuming your vehicle is running. It is a dangerous place – so that is pretty wild.

Hey jgiumelli. A couple of years ago I had a conference in Hollywood, Florida, USA. I had another conference 4 days later in Chicago so me and a couple of others hired a car and drove. Check out the distance online (~2200km) and you’ll see that it was a pretty ambitious drive. As a consequence, we drove through heaps of little ‘redneck’ towns and saw some pretty odd people. Had a pretty crazy night in Nashville along the way.

Hi jgiumelli,
I haven’t actually been anywhere too wild. I did once go to a conference in Honolulu, Hawaii, so maybe that will count as wild because we were pretty close to potentially active volcanoes! I’ve also been to San Francisco for work – a lot of earthquakes happen there, so that would probably be considered wild as well!

I have been nowhere particularly wild. My work has left me confined to Australian cities most of the time. I did run a community event in Barham, NSW a little while ago. It was a warm night and I was having a drink with a friend and a dust storm blew in so fast so could hardly get inside!
