Question: How does macula degeneration affect your eyesight, Does it afect how the light is refracted ?

The macular is a part of the retina which is where light is collected in the eye. As the macular starts to fail there is less area available to collect light and so dark spots appear in the vision. The light behaves as normal but the ability to detect it is slowly lost.
