  1. Hi ghosthunter,

I love what I do because I get to do a few things, so I often have something new going on.

As for travel, I get to do a fair amount, because I have research sites all across Australia. Biogeography is a field of science that travel is basically a necessary to do your research.

  2. Hey @ghosthunter100. Yep, my job is great. Love it. I don’t travel a lot (once/twice per year) but have travelled to Europe and the USA, including Hawaii for my work to present my data. This had happened every year since my PhD so it has been an awesome ride. One of the perks of the job.

  3. I do love my work! I do get to travel a lot, probably too much. It is rare that I have a month where I don’t have at least one interstate or international trip. I’m part of many collaborations in Australia and internationally that require face-to-face meetings. Each year I would estimate that I take about 20 trips in Australia and about 6 international trips. I spend a lot of time in airports, on planes and in hotels. It do sound glamorous, but when you are on a month long stretch visiting four countries and giving presentations and attending lots of meetings, it can wear a bit thin. I’ll be away most of June, at conferences in the Hunter Valley (NSW), Greece, and India.

  4. Hi ghosthunter100,
Yes, I do enjoy my work. I love always being able to learn something new. I have done a bit of travelling during my PhD – I’ve been to a few conferences interstate and overseas, and I got to visit a lab in the USA and work there for a little while.

  5. I love my work! I spend a lot of time in Adelaide but I occasionally get to travel to country Victoria to run events and that is lots of fun. My wife is about to have a baby though so I don’t really want to go anywhere at the moment!
