Question: Is it possible to predict when there is going to be a earthquake by maping out the time frame between other earthquakes?

  1. I don’t believe we can predict earthquakes exactly. Some things sometimes happen and that can tip us off but generally earthquakes just happen and we only realise it when we can feel them.

  2. Hi Jamesy,
No the time between earthquakes is no specific indication of when there is going to be another quake.

Work being done in this area, tracking deep earth tremours, does appear to have some predictive power because earthquakes are not just a single event, but long term predictions are a long ways off.
