I remember the quake, I was in Forster (a couple of hundred kms north) and felt the tremors there. We turned the telly on, and within a short period of time the news reports started coming through.

Were you scared by the quake?
-
commented on 17 May 2012:
No, because it was only a little shake where I was. The wall in the corner had a little crack in it, but nothing serious.

I went to ChCh last Christmas and I was in 3 earth quakes, 1st one we were in a theatre and the walls were shaking a bit, 2nd we didn’t feel at all and 3rd one I was sleeping on a trundle bed in a hotel room and I didn’t feel a thing but everyone else in my family felt it. The 3rd one was the biggest (magnitude 4.1)

Hi pnemonoultramicroscopicsillicovolcanoconiosis
No, actually I was visiting family friends in Canberra at the time. I still remember hearing about it when it happened. Crazy stuff!
