Thats correct james, they are a tiny little thing, females are a little bit bigger than the males, but still no more than 10cm, that is a really little animal
That’s such a tiny animal – so cute! 🙂 And I just learnt something new, thanks!
Here’s my random turtle story: there are some turtles that live in the lake at The University of Queensland, and I had a friend who was studying zoology. She got to do a prac class where they studied how baby turtles that they got from the lake swam and did other things. I visited her class to see the turtles and the tutor pulled me into the classroom and put one of the little turtles in my hand. It had gone inside its shell but it poked its head and legs out when she put in my hand – It was really cool! Also, when I was in preschool, our class had a pet turtle named Shelley. Ah, preschool, what fun memories… 🙂
Anyway, back to the topic!
xxdrunktinyturtlexx, not sure if you’d be interested in finding out what the largest turtle is, but if you are: its the leatherback sea turtle (Dermochelys coriacea), which can grow to have a shell that is 2 metres long and can weigh over 900 kilograms! Now that is big!
By the way, xxdrunktinyturtlexx, do you have a pet turtle?
I had to look this up but everything I could see said it was the Speckled Padloper tortoise from South Africa.8 centimetres long and 140g heavy.
