Question: whats the biggest star in the universe

Keywords: ,

  1. The largest known star is VY Canis Majoris (a star in the constellation of the big dog – also the constellation that has the brightest star seen from Earth apart from our own Sun, alpha Canis Majoris). It has a diameter approximately 2000 times the diameter of our Sun. That is 2000 x 1.4 million km, so 2.8 billion km!! If VY Canis Majoris was where our Sun is, the surface of VY Canis Majoris would engulf the orbits of Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars and Jupiter.
