Question: Do you really believe that mythical creatures like Yowies and Chupacabras?

  1. Hi sthatch1,

    This is an interesting question.

For the most part, many of the mythical creatures are not biologically possible. For example Pegasus, the winged horse, does not really fit in with what we know about the natural world. All land animals are tetrapods, that means they have 4 limbs (feet). So we have two arms two legs, just as a bird has two legs and two wings, and snakes once had four limbs but have lost them. But a Pegasus has 6 limbs and so is not a very likely animal, unless it was a giant bug, which then means it would have other problems.

What about a yowie or a bigfoot. It is not totally impossible to have a bipedal ape, after all humans are bipedal apes. Bipedal meaning that we walk on two legs. But the problem is that if there were bigfoot or yowies, then there would have to be a population of them, because a single one cannot live forever. If there is a population then it is likely we would have found them as they are supposed to be quite big animals. But so far no testable evidence has been found of them, and the testable evidence that has been found turned out to be hair from other animals, or hoaxes.

Because I like researching animals, if these animals were real that would be great, it would be something else for me to research. But the simple thing about all these animals is that they seem to tells us something about humans, more than about any mysterious animal that we are yet to find.

So the simple answer to your question is that no, I dont think that many if any at all are plausible.
