Well it depends on where the word is being used. In our normal everday speak we often use the word ‘germs’ to refer to different sorts of microrganisms such as viruses and bacteria.
However, some biologists may use the word germ to refer to a germ cell, which is a type of cell in the body.
So in normal speak, it is just a general word. That is a great question though as i find most confusion comes from the words we use, not so much the difficulty of the concepts
I would agree with Dustin to a certain extent but instead I would say that people say germ when they mean microorganism that makes me sick and bacteria specifically to refer to bacterial cells.
