Question: Do domestic breeds of Canis lupus familaris count as subspecies?

Hi Pnemono,

Yes, they are a subspecies, but all domestic breeds of dog belong to the same subspecies.

So chihuahaus are Canis lupus familiaris just as are great danes.

The common wolf is Canis lupus lupus, and the dingo is Canis lupis dingo
