Question: what is the strangest thing you've seen?

Keywords: ,

  1. I’m terrible at these questions. Strangeness probably means different things to different people. Probably ANZAC day evening, when my wife and I were having a short holiday and staying in Kings Cross. It was party central on the street, with two-up schools going. We were watching a two-up game when two men having a drunken fight fell out of the pub behind us. We stopped watching the two-up to watch the fight. Then, along the crowded street came a guy jogging along looking very distressed because he was butt naked. He sat down and hid in a nearby doorway with his head in his hands. At that stage we didn’t know what was most interesting to follow, the fight or the naked guy. Love to know what his story was.

  2. Hi Shady, the last time I was in the desert with a friend – hundreds and hundreds of kilometres from anywhere we found on the ground, in the sand, a strange s shape. We drove on further, and came across a couple of Swedish people riding their bikes.

    That was a bit strange.

  4. Hi shadycactus6,
A few years ago I was visiting someone in hospital in Fiji (which is where I am originally from). This is around the time the coups were going on. There was a business man who was accused of helping and providing financial support to the coup leaders, so the military wanted to get a hold of him. So to avoid being questioned or jailed, he claimed that he was really sick and got admitted to the same hospital that I was visiting. The military wanted to make sure he didn’t try to escape, so they had an armed officer patrolling around his room in the hospital at all times, day and night.
That was a pretty strange sight, and kept us all on our best behaviour, too!

  5. When I was looking at different labs to work in I was offered a project trying to work out if SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) might be due to bacterial toxins. Part of the job would be analysing the number and types of bacteria in newborn baby poo to see if there was a difference between SIDS babies and unaffected babies. On the tour they showed me a big freezer full of baby poo in neat little bags with labels. It would have been my job to analyse all of it. I hope to never ever see a freezer full of poo ever again.
