Question: how much do you get payed

  1. Hey @jgiumelli and @cocacolarulez. I get paid enough to live a comfortable life, have enough to give my kids what they want and go on holidays when we feel the need. I can say that it is certainly more than the average salary but I am not quite at the billionaire stage (yet).

  2. As a student, we dont get paid a lot of money. But I have worked in high paying jobs prior, and honestly, being paid a lot of money does not make up for doing a pointless or boring job that you are not interested in.

  3. $190,000 per year. I love getting paid to do what I love. I have to say, though, that my job is very demanding. My wife trained in molecular biology and for most of the time after University has worked. We have two kids. Some time back we realised that with two full time jobs and two kids (with my work and travel schedule), life was tough. So, she gave up work so that I could work this much and earn that much. I hasten to say, she is quite happy with that move. I work very hard and have a high level of responsibility. My base salary is $150,00 per year, I get a $25,000 per year bonus, and I get a $15,000 duty loading, plus other bits and pieces. Mind you, a lot of that simply disappears in taxes. And don’t think I work a normal working week, probably close to 80 hr/week rather than the standard 40 hr/week. Like I say, though, I love it and it has taken me 20 years to get this far.

  4. Hi jgiumelli and cocacolarulez,
I am a student and I had a scholarship that paid about $20,000 a year. I don’t actually get paid anymore for doing my PhD (I’m very nearly finished it) but I do get paid a bit for tutoring other students. We certainly all need money to live but I think its important to do what you love without just trying to make loads of money – you’ll be much happier in a slightly lower paying job that you like and that is satisfying, than you would in a very high paying job that you are bored in or absolutely hate. Whatever you do, do it more for love than for money! 🙂

  5. I dont make millions but I make enough to be happy and comfortable. I would guess that I am earning above the average for someone my age. My wife and I built a house, run a car and are starting a family, we are doing just fine.
