Question: Dear Scientists, What do you hope will be your next step in your science? Thanks, twright1

  1. I’m leading a $50m project to build a new radio telescope in remote Western Australia. We are due to complete construction in November and then commission and operate the facility from early next year. So, I’m hoping my next step will be to operate the telescope, learn lots of new stuff about the Universe, and write a large number of publications describing what we find.

  2. My next step will be publishing my thesis (a book about all the science I did at uni) and then I will continue working as a communicator talking to people about science.

  3. Hey twright1
I’m trying to understand why people with pancreatic cancer, who have large amounts of a particular protein, are more likely to get metastases (distant spread of the cancer to other organs in the body). I have been working on this for a few years and we are closer to finding out the biology behind this and then targeting this with chemotherapies. Also looking into if certain compounds extracted from foods/plants have any effect against pancreatic cancer cells

  4. Hi twright1,

For the next few years I am working on a project looking at communities of organisms across australia. After that I will be going overseas to do more research.

  5. Hi twright1,
My next step is to finish off my thesis and get things published, like what James said. Then I guess I need to find myself a job! I would like to stay in research and I think I’d like to get in to teaching as well. We’ll see how it goes… 🙂
