There were a number of things that I was interested in, these were pilot, police officer, spy, but I always loved science. But before getting here i have done other things, I was in the military for a number of years, and have also owned my own business as well.
I really wanted to play cricket for Victoria. I was a pretty good cricket player, but clearly not good enough. I loved sport and still do, but it is generally to keep fit these days.

I wanted to be a scientist or a teacher when I was little. I can definitely combine those two things now (teach chemistry and carry out research), so that is pretty cool. I also think it would kind of cool to be something like an actor or working in TV in some way, because you can entertain and educate at the same time (which we also try to do as scientists, in some way or other – like when you are teaching or giving a presentation) – but I would probably not be very good at it! 🙂
I wanted to play baseball but I wasn’t good enough. Some of my old friends were though and they play for Australia now!
